(Reuters) On Wednesday, Netflix introduced improved language choices for TV viewers, enabling them to choose from the whole list of dubbing languages and subtitles for every show.
According to the firm, the upgrade attempts to increase accessibility to Netflix’s global library at a time when non-English language shows account for about one-third of its total viewing.
Popular shows that are available in several languages, like the Oscar-winning German film “All Quiet on the Western Front,” the Spanish television series “Berlin,” and the South Korean drama “Squid Game,” have been able to draw viewers from outside of their own nation.
Although the precise number of languages accessible may differ by title, Netflix claimed to offer audio dubbing in 36 languages and subtitles in 33 languages throughout its library.
In the past, there were just a few languages available to viewers.
After receiving hundreds of language availability requests each month, Netflix says it made the decision to modify TV’s restricted language availability feature.
