Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella stated Tuesday during the company’s third-quarter results call that more than 10 million individuals have streamed games via Xbox Cloud Gaming. Because cloud gaming is only available as part of the $14.99 per month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate premium, the data released Tuesday implies that a large number of players are trying it out. It’s also a tangible figure in an area where there have been few — Google doesn’t break out Stadia figures, and Nvidia’s GeForce Now stats include individuals who have used the service for free.

Game Pass has been successful, with Microsoft announcing in January that the programme had grown to 25 million customers, up from 18 million the previous year. However, it’s unclear how Microsoft defines what counts as a streamed game via Xbox Cloud Gaming, so we don’t know what the statistic means, how many current members are included in the tally, or how much gameplay is necessary for the company to include it as a stream. It’s also worth mentioning that you can sign up for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for a month for a dollar and then cancel it, but it’s unknown how many individuals did so and streamed a game.
