As “eyes and ears” for ChatGPT, OpenAI started developing plugins in March with the goal of enhancing ChatGPT’s capabilities as a flexible tool that can help users with a variety of activities.

These plugins were initially only available to a small number of users during an alpha testing stage. On the other hand, OpenAI said on Friday of last week that it has just made over 70 third-party plugins available to ChatGPT Plus subscribers. The capabilities of ChatGPT users have significantly increased with this upgrade.

Upon purchasing ChatGPT Plus, plugins will instantly become active in the settings section titled “Beta Features.” Users of this $20 monthly membership service have access to OpenAI’s sophisticated ChatGPT-4 model, which is a significant advancement over ChatGPT-3 but still has certain flaws.
