Google has resolved overheating and battery drain issues on Pixel phones

Google has begun putting out a patch to address overheating and battery drain concerns reported by several Pixel customers worldwide.

The issue was first brought to light by Pixel users on Reddit, who were mostly using Pixel 6 and 7 devices. The Google app looked to be the primary culprit, with very high background usage as seen by battery data. Some gadgets were also overheating as a result of this.

Following an examination, Google concluded that the fundamental cause of the problem was a backend update to the Google app. The presently released patch fixes this problem, resolving the identified concerns.
