The Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) has urged for a decrease in telecom consumer levies in order to make digital services more affordable.
With Pakistan being one of the most heavily taxed telecom markets in the world, where telecom consumers suffer an overall tax burden of 34.5 percent, including 15 percent WHT and 19.5 percent GST, the GSMA’s proposal attempts to mitigate the impact of high taxes on the mobile business.
In Pakistan, the mobile sector is critical to fostering digital transformation and realising the Digital Pakistan Vision.
