Beginning in June, YouTube will stop allowing users to publish momentary updates through its Stories feature. Users won’t be able to create new Stories after June 26 and those that already exist will automatically expire after seven days.

When Stories first debuted in 2017, they could only be accessed by YouTubers with more than 10,000 subscribers under the name Reels.

YouTube Stories offered a way for producers to publish updates and behind-the-scenes material to promote their channels, much like Instagram (which took inspiration from Snapchat).
