Hackers stole data from the devices of a number of users of the popular file transfer utility MOVEit Transfer, according to US security experts on Thursday, one day after the software’s creator announced a security problem.
After discovering the vulnerability on Wednesday, software manufacturer Progress Software Corp (PRGS.O) warned that it might allow unauthorised access to customers’ systems.
The company’s managed file transfer software, developed in Burlington, Massachusetts, enables organisations to move files and data between business partners and clients.
