On June 23, EU industry director Thierry Breton will meet with Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta Platforms (META.O), and urge that he take immediate action to address content aimed at minors since Meta’s voluntary child protection policy appeared to be failing.
Regulators and consumers have expressed worry about content aimed towards young children on social networking platforms including Meta’s Instagram, ByteDance’s TikTok, Snap’s (SNAP.N), Snapchat, and Alphabet’s (GOOGL.O) YouTube.
Breton stated on Twitter that “#Meta’s voluntary code on child protection seems to not work.”
