According to two sources, Google (GOOGL.O) has asked the Indian Supreme Court to overturn antitrust rulings against it for abusing the Android market as it pursues legal action against the competition watchdog in one of its most significant regions.

In October, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) declared that Google had abused its dominant position by powering 97% of the 600 million cellphones in India with its Android mobile operating system.

It penalised the American company $163 million, which it paid, and ordered Google to remove restrictions placed on device manufacturers, including those linked to the pre-installation of apps.
