Reuters: Milan By the end of the decade, Italy hopes to produce over two thirds of its electricity from renewable sources, according to the energy ministry, slightly exceeding goals set three years earlier.

The ministry stated that Italy wanted to generate 65% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030, up from the previous target of 55%, in a revision of the nation’s energy and climate plan.

By the end of the decade, renewables will have replaced 30% of gross energy use in all sectors, including power generation, housing, and transportation.
