Mercedes-Benz (MBGn.DE) announced on Friday that its electric vehicles in North America will use Tesla-developed charging technology beginning in 2025, as well as access to more than 12,000 Superchargers beginning next year.
The company joins American rivals Ford (F.N) and General Motors (GM.N) in adopting the North American Charging Standard (NACS) in an effort to expand their network of fast chargers and make owning an EV easier.
Mercedes-Benz will be the first German automaker to sign up for Tesla’s charging concept for customers in North America. Volkswagen (VOWG_p.DE), a German competitor, is also in talks to implement NACS.
