Microsoft’s (MSFT.O) deadline to complete its $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard (ATVI.O) is approaching, prompting the companies to seek a US judge on Wednesday to expedite the process of the Federal Trade Commission’s legal attempt to halt the transaction.

On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Edward Davila scheduled an evidentiary hearing for June 22–23 in San Francisco and temporarily halted the merger between the corporations pending the outcome of another judge’s decision on whether to issue a preliminary injunction.
