TikTok has released a new “Security Checkup” feature, which allows users to simply monitor and alter their account security settings from a single page, the business revealed this week. This function is identical to the security checks provided by TikTok’s competitor, Instagram, and technology behemoth Google.
Users may use the tool by going to their profile, selecting “Settings and privacy,” and then tapping “Security and permissions.”
The Security Checkup walks users through TikTok’s security features and encourages them to enable extra security measures for added safety.Users may attach their phone number and email address to the app, ensuring they have a backup way to log in in case they lose access to their account. They may also activate two-factor authentication to provide an extra degree of protection when checking in from an unknown device.
Furthermore, the application underlines the need of regularly examining the devices associated with the account and eliminating those that are no longer in use or appear suspect. It also recommends using device-based authentication, like as Face ID or Touch Unlock, for a faster and more secure login process.
TikTok also watches for odd activity and warns any possible security vulnerabilities in the “Security and permissions” section for users to evaluate.
This new feature launch comes at a time when the future of TikTok in the United States is unknown, with President Donald Trump extending the deadline for a potential TikTok ban by 75 days in January. Despite this uncertainty, TikTok continues to expand its app with new features, such as stronger adolescent safety precautions and a redesigned desktop interface to compete with YouTube.
